With the decrease in COVID-19 over the last few days, the CIUSSS de l’Estrie-CHUS announced a plan to gradually increase access to surgery, taking into consideration both other services to the population and the still very present needs related to the pandemic.
Next Monday, an additional surgery room will be available at the Fleurimont Hospital. An agreement has also been made with two specialized medical clinics to allow certain surgeries to be relocated, freeing up operating time at the Hôtel-Dieu for other types of surgery.
Quebec reported 1,093 new cases Thursday, bringing the total number of people infected to 266,672, of which 243,769 have now recovered. There were 42 new deaths reported, for a total of 9,941. The number of hospitalizations decreased by 36 compared to the previous day, for a cumulative total of 1,070. Among those, the number of people in intensive care decreased by two, for a total of 175.
The Estrie region reported 44 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday, bringing the local total to 10,737. There were also three deaths reported; one from Fleurimont Hospital, one from the Centre d’hébergement Saint-Vincent and one from the general population.
