A dozen members from the Township Regional Union Support Staff – Centrale des syndicats du Québec (TRUSS-CSQ) stood outside the Eastern Townships School Board (ETSB) bus garage on Wellington South Monday morning to bring attention to school bus drivers.
TRUSS President Sonia Labrie told The Record in an interview that contract negotiations between the provincial government, teachers and support staff are essentially non-existent right now. It’s completely frozen, she said, and time is running out.
“Nothing has happened since we last spoke in terms of negotiations,” said Labrie. “The government has no contract to offer us; our demands were all rejected and it feels like they’re ignoring us.”
The Record spoke to the union president last month during a protest outside Coalition Avenir Québec MNA Geneviève Hébert’s office in Sherbrooke. At the time, she complained that the government refused to continue negotiations. The contract dispute remains unresolved.
