Bishop’s University students were singled out last week as a reason for Sherbrooke’s high number of infractions related to breaking Quebec’s curfew and rules gathering in large groups despite COVID-19 health and safety measures.
The Sherbrooke Police Service (SPS) revealed that they handed out 97 infractions between Feb. 22 to March 1. However, Sherbrooke’s Public Safety Committee President Danielle Berthold noted the bulk of tickets were given to students.
According to Berthold, of the 97 infractions, 35 of them were given to students in Lennoxville’s university sector. When asked why she chose to reveal this information, she told The Record that she would have done the same thing if it were any other student group.
