The format of a My Take is 150 words – no more, no less – to express an opinion on a different topic each week. This week’s topic was the Freedom Convoy
I have gone down 100 different roads today trying to come up with something clear and worthwhile to say on this topic and hit nothing but dead ends. So instead here’s a thought I had earlier this week:
I was just shy of three at the time of the Ecole Polytechnique Massacre. I can’t pinpoint the first time that I heard about what had happened, but in my adult life marking the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women has become something our family and many others across Quebec do each year.
That didn’t happen spontaneously. Remembering and learning from something so awful takes work.
This Saturday marks five years since the Quebec City mosque shooting, and the more time that passes since that attack took place, the more important it is for us all to commit to doing that same work.
