In a gesture of solidarity for the human tragedy unfolding in Ukraine, the Sherbrooke Curling Club has put its old handles back into use to match the blue and yellow of the centre ice rink.
“This reminder of the blue and yellow colours of the Ukrainian flag is the least we can do to show our compassion towards this nation that only aspires to peace,” says the new president of the Board of Directors, Alain D’Amboise. We would like to do more, but the gesture seems to be meaningful to our members and visitors.
“It makes you think about how lucky we are to be able to enjoy our favourite activities while millions of people don’t know what tomorrow holds.”
The Sherbrooke Curling Club has been a sport organization in the Sherbrooke community since 1880. It is the third oldest curling organization in Quebec.
