Sherbrooke residents may have noticed the area under the Joffre Bridge had been cleared out on Wednesday. The Record spoke to Mayor Évelyne Beaudin about the situation, and she explained that the city is currently running its annual spring cleaning routine.
According to Beaudin, Sherbrooke sends out maintenance crews every year to spray and clean sidewalks, streets and alleys, as well as any public infrastructure to spruce it up before the summer. She said the city asked the residents living under the bridge to move temporarily.
Beaudin noted it has all been handled in a collaborative manner, and the two or three residents living under the bridge are welcome to return once the spring cleaning process is over. This is to the benefit of everyone in the city, she continued, as it creates a healthy environment.
