The Alliance du personnel professionnel et technique de la santé et des services sociaux (APTS) is celebrating this year’s National Medical Laboratory Week by paying tribute to the indispensable work done by professionals and technicians in the health network.
According to a press release, APTS members are involved in 85 per cent of the diagnoses made in the network, making them an essential part of Quebec’s health and social services network. The APTS selected the slogan Pas de labos? Pas d’hôpitaux for its campaign.
The organization wants to highlight the technical expertise and professionalism of its members in the field. The APTS also released a video this week illustrating the technical know-how required to work in a laboratory. The entire network is in a weak state, and in flux right now.
“Unfortunately, the OPTILAB approach has intensified the shortage of biomedical testing technology graduates and the overload of field members,” said APTS National Representative Danny Roulx, adding the network has been weakened by an attempt at centralization.
