Quebec’s public health director, Dr. Luc Boileau, held his first press conference on the COVID-19 situation in Quebec since May 11 on Wednesday morning to inform the public that there has been a rise in cases and hospitalizations. Given this situation, he encouraged people to take care when meeting with friends and family over the coming weeks.
Boileau said the new rise is not unexpected and can be linked to a few new variants that have established themselves in the province, but he said that measures like masking, distancing, and vaccination remain effective tools to control infection.
