Phoenix to host Ukrainian refugee fundraiser on Sunday afternoon

The Sherbrooke Phoenix will host more than 40 Ukrainian refugees for a special fundraising event on Sunday afternoon when the team takes on the Baie-Comeau Drakkar.
Phoenix Executive Director Jacqueline Belleau, formerly the regional director for Actions interculturelles, orchestrated the fundraiser. Although, she noted, it was a collaborative effort from the entire hockey organization, from the coaches and players, to the administration team.
“I mean this is kind of my old life and new life coming together in a very nice way and I speak Russian and I have been involved personally with the Ukrainian community and several families since they arrived and that’s from my previous job and I continue to help them,” said Belleau.
