Stephen Zatylny, appearing at the Sherbrooke courthouse on Feb. 13, was sentenced to 42 months in prison after pleading guilty to two counts related to sexual interference with a minor.
The charges date back to 2002.
Zatylny, a former Gaiter and CFL football player living in the local community, was working as a student activities coordinator at Bishop’s College School around the time of the offences, but according to court documents, the crimes in question were first committed after he moved to Ontario to take a position at Fulford Academy in Brockville, Ontario.
The first count occurred between June and September of 2002, and involved sexual touching of a person under the age of 14 years.
The second, spanning between 2002-2004, involved sexual touching of a young person towards whom Zatylny was in a position of trust or authority.
In addition to a 42-month sentence, Zatylny must register on the National Sex Offender Registry for a period of 20 years.
