By Emilie Hackett, Special to the Record – Bishop’s University’s Dr. Matthew Peros has been conducting research on climate change for nearly 20 years in Cuba. When a colleague informed him that they discovered a site, a flooded cave, with the remains of Caribbean sloths that had been extinct over 4,000 years, Peros knew it would be an incredible breakthrough. Funded by National Geographic, the research is now featured at the Musée de la Nature et des Sciences de Sherbrooke (MNS2) in its most recent exhibition, “Paleomission: In Search of the Ancient Sloth” until Jan. 7. Inaugurated on Thursday, Dec. 10, Peros described “Paleomission” as a “cross between cutting edge science and exploration.” See full story in the Monday, Dec. 24 edition of The Record.
