By Emilie Hackett, Special to the Record – One of Sherbrooke’s hottest cross-town rivalries is back in action on Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Bishop’s University Mitchell Gym. The Champlain College Cougars (3-0) will be hosting the Cégep de Sherbrooke’s Volontaires (3-1) in a long-awaited game. The Cougars are currently fighting to take the RSEQ Division II’s first place from the Shawinigan Électriks. Last year, the Cougars won the bronze medal at the RSEQ provincials. The Cougars will also be using the game as an opportunity to raise funds for the team. “We are mostly raising money to pay for tournaments, exhibition games, travel, referees, and accommodations,” specified Champlain coach Matthew McLean. “Our league is not as strong, so we play many games outside of it to get decent competition, either in Ontario or the U.S.” The Cougars have not lost to Sherbrooke since 2011, making them 6-0 against their rivals.
