In April, Michilynn Dubeau opened Marché des Artisanats in Dunham, the perfect place for crafty people who like to make things with their hands. Beyond being a sales venue, the goal of the space is to build a community where artisans support and help one another right in the heart of Dunham. When Dubeau joined the Women’s Institute in 2013, she participated in many activities, such as garage sales. At these, she quickly came to a realization. “I became aware that there are so many talented individuals out there that don’t have anywhere to sell or enough inventory. So many of the women at the Women’s Institute events were over 80,” she explained. “I would see them hauling their work to the tables, working hard, being on their feet all day. I saw an opportunity there to create a space for these women where they could sell their wares year-round in a safe, comfortable environment.” See full story in the Monday, May 28 edition of The Record.
