According to Stéphane Tremblay, Assistant Director of General and Specialized Healthcare, emergency overcrowding in local hospitals is somewhat stable even though demand from the population remains high. The CIUSSS de l’Estrie-CHUS implemented extraordinary measures at Brome-Missisquoi-Perkins, Granby, Fleurimont, and Hôtel-Dieu Sherbrooke hospitals in mid-February to relieve pressure on emergency rooms, operating on some days close to 200 per cent capacity. Two weeks into the action plan, Tremblay said that demand from the public has not decreased, but that there has been improvement, with emergency rooms currently in the range of 100-120 per cent capacity.
