Tuesday marked the first day that booster shots appointments
were available for COVID-19 vaccines among those 80 and older in Quebec. Anyone over the age of 79 can now make an appointment for a third shot through the ClicSante website, provided that it has been at least six months since their second dose. Those 75 to
79 years of age will be able to follow suit on Thursday, followed by those 70-74 next Tuesday. Anyone who received the AstraZeneca vaccine for both their first and second dose will also be able to get a booster as of Thursday, Nov. 25, if they wish to.
The province of Quebec reported 517 new cases of COVID-19 on
Tuesday, bringing the total number of people infected to 435,366 with 5,708 active cases.
There were two new deaths recorded, for a total of 11,548 since
the start of the pandemic.
The number of people in hospital due to the virus decreased by
two, to 200, and 47 people were in intensive care, an increase of five compared to the previous day.
The number of active cases in the Eastern Townships increased
again, reaching 659 with 40 in la Pommeraie, 70 in the Haute Yamaska, 114 in Memphrémagog, 11 in Coaticook, 191 in Sherbrooke, 21 in the Val Saint-François, 29 in Des Sources, 86 in the Haut-Saint-François, and 96 in Granit.
