Record Staff – The Sherbrooke Expos finished a big four-game stretch in five nights last week with just one win and three losses.
On Wednesday, Michel Goudreau pitched a full nine innings and clinched his fourth victory in five outings in a 2-0 win over defending champion Castors in Acton Vale. Goudreau gave up only five hits and struck out eight batters. The ninth inning was played under international rules that place two runners on base. With two runners in scoring position, Javier Rivalta hit a single to bring Dominique Samyn and Douglas Toro home against reliever Étienne St-Amand, who registered a fourth setback in eight decisions.
