After starting the regular season with three games on the road, the Bishop’s University Gaiters men’s field lacrosse team returned to Coulter Field with an unblemished 3-0 record to take on the Carleton Ravens last weekend.
The Gaiters continued to show their dominance in the Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association (CUFLA) as they took down the Ravens 19-12 on home turf. It was Bishop’s first win at home since competitive games were postponed due to the pandemic in 2019.
According to Gaiters assistant coach and general manager Drew Pollock, it was a surreal experience to play in a meaningful game in front of spectators again. He told The Record that he felt a sense of relief and comfort running back onto the field with the Gaiters.
“I’ve been back coaching with the team since 2009 and to have almost two years since we’ve had that feeling of game day at home, it was pretty cool, pretty fun to kind of get back into that mental space and enjoy it, and I think the guys were really fired up about that, too,” he said.
