There were 2,312 people in hospital for COVID-19 across Quebec on Thursday, with 173 in intensive care. This marked a decrease of 36 hospitalizations overall from Wednesday’s report, but an increase of two intensive care patients.There were 35 new Covid-related deaths recorded, for a total of 13,617 since the start of the pandemic.In the Eastern Townships the number of hospitalizations continued its downward trend, with 121 overall and eight in intensive care. This represents a drop of nearly 30 since the previous Friday, and a halving of the number of people in ICU over that same amount of time.There were no new deaths recorded in the region on Thursday, keeping the total at 516.In terms of vaccination, 48 per cent of those eligible to receive a booster shot had done so as of Thursday’s data. The campaign to offer vaccination to children aged 5-11, meanwhile, has reached 64 per cent coverage for a first dose and 32 per cent for a second.
The province also reported that there have been 18,199 first doses administered in the province’s adult population since Jan. 24, and that the number of people completely unvaccinated for Covid was 523,877.
