The Sherbrooke Police Service dog, Kanak, was inducted into the Quebec Animal Hall of Fame Sunday in recognition of the role he has played for the Sherbrooke Police Department since the spring of 2016. Kanak, a Labrador retriever, primarily provides emotional support to victims of crime and is particularly effective with young people who have been physically or sexually abused. He also sits at the side of patrol officers when they have to tell children that one of their relatives has died. He is also used in schools when agents want to deliver a prevention message to students. See full story in the Tuesday, March 13th edition of The Record.
