A Sherbrooke area man was arrested Thursday morning by the Sherbrooke Police for allegedly stalking two young girls under the age of 14 on the Internet in recent months. The suspect, 20, allegedly contacted a 13-year-old girl from Gatineau and a 14-year-old from Sherbrooke through social media and had sexually-themed conversations with them. He even made a ‘date’ with the alleged victim from Sherbrooke, during which he allegedly committed a sexual assault. According to police, relatives of the victims got in touch with them and a subsequent investigation led to the arrest. The suspect faces charges of child-luring by computer, incitement to sexual touching, production and distribution of child pornography, and sexual assault. Some of these charges are punishable by minimum prison sentences. The SPS worked closely with the cybercrime specialists of the Sûreté du Québec in this case.
