Taking advantage of International Worker’s Day, hundreds of employees from community organizations and the social services domain gathered at the Cégep de Sherbrooke for a protest and march to demand better working conditions. The community workers, coming from the Estrie and Monteregie regions, met at 1:30 p.m. for brief speeches before making their way through downtown Sherbrooke to City Hall. One of the representatives speaking at the demonstration pointed to the irony of people who spend their lives fighting poverty, who end up impoverished themselves.
