Sherbrooke Mayor Steve Lussier, in collaboration with the Scouts de l’Érable, ABDS Volunteers, and Domino’s Pizza, is inviting the public to take part in annual Mayor’s Blood Drive, Thursday and Friday, March 8 and 9 between 1:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the central mall of the Carrefour de l’Estrie. The goal is to welcome 500 donors.
A thousand blood donations are needed each day to maintain the collective blood pool at an optimal level.
Anyone in good health, 18 years of age or older, can usually donate blood. Before going to a drive, people can check their eligibility with Donor Client Services at 1 800 847-2525 or visit the Héma-Québec website at www.hema-quebec.qc.ca, section Sang / Donneurs / Puis-je donner?
If you have traveled recently, check to see if your destination is considered to be at risk for malaria, Zika virus or similar infectious diseases.
