This year the Potton Firefighter and First Responder service is offering local youth (ages 12-17) an amazing experience with its Camp 911 program. The camp is being offered to commemorate the 90th Anniversary of the Department in Potton.
On Monday, July 11 was the first day of the Camp and participants began their day with a tour of the fire station and the fire trucks. Following this their bunker suits were distributed with the first activity being an obstacle course to assess the physical fitness of the youth participants. The afternoon was dedicated to use of the air packs that are used by firefighters during fires where the youth experienced doing an intervention where the building is filled with smoke. The afternoon brought a surprise as organizers had invited the Troy Fire Department from the US to join in the training and the day ended with a portable fire extinguisher simulation.
