Quebec Education Minister Jean-François Roberge held a Sunday press conference to lay out plans for a new Quebec Citizenship and Culture curriculum. The new program will replace the existing Ethics and Religious Culture (ERC) course.
During an Oct. 26 Eastern Township School Board (ETSB) council of commissioners meeting, it was clear that little information has been shared about the new curriculum with the board as of yet.
In response to a question from commissioner Alice McCrory, ETSB chairman Michael Murray raised concerns about the consultation process, “No fewer than three of the people on the committee drafting the new program resigned at different stages during the development when they objected on ethical grounds to some of the things they were expected to incorporate into that course.”
