Nominations open for care packages in the MRC des Sources

Record Staff

In response to the difficult circumstances caused by the COVID-19 situation, many community organizations have partnered to start a care package project for families in the MRC des Sources. Starting May 21, community members in the MRC can nominate families who will receive a little cheer and support through these free care packages.
In the last few weeks, the pandemic and resulting confinement period have shaken lives and caused stress, uncertainty and isolation for many families. Witnessing this difficult situation, the organizations partnered through this project were inspired to offer free care packages aimed at bringing comfort, kindness and support to families who live on the MRC des Sources territory.
These packages will contain food, simple recipes, books, art material, games and self-care products. They will also contain information about local resources available to the families for extra support in the coming weeks and months. These care packages will be offered in French and in English.
Those organizing the project are asking for the community’s help in the nominations process. Community members can nominate a family to offer them a little comfort. Families can also ask for a package for themselves. The nomination process is simple, free and based on address rather than family name in order to maintain confidentiality. To nominate a family, simply fill out the form available on the Richmond, Danville & Drummondville CLC Facebook page (@RichmondRegionCLC), or email Genevieve at adsclc@etsb.qc.ca
The Care Packages project is made possible thanks to the implication of a growing list of partners including Maison des Familles FamillAction , Richmond, Danville & Drummondville Community Learning Centre (CLC), Comité territorial des Sources, Cuisine Amitié, CDC des Sources, Carrefour Jeunesse-Emploi d’Asbestos, Projet PRÉE, CIUSSS de l’Estrie-CHUS , Literacy in Action and Townshippers’ Association.
The MRC des Sources includes the municipalities of Asbestos, Danville, Ham-Sud, Saint-Adrien, Saint-Camille, Saint-Georges-De-Windsor, and Wotton.
