The Orford Montessori Secondary School has announced what appears to be a first in Canada by virtue of a specialized class for teens ages 12 to 17 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The class will begin at the start of the 2018-2019 school year and will be added to the regular secondary stream that has been in place for a year at the Orford Musique site in the Township of Orford. The school is already working with young people with different challenges such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, or other learning disabilities but wanted to gain improved expertise in dealing with those living within the autism spectrum.
