In Buffalo, the biggest story from day one of the World Junior Championship was perennial powerhouse Russia’s loss to the Czech Republic, 5-4, at the Key Bank Center in Buffalo.
"We scored five times against the Russians, so that was big for us," said Czech defenceman Vojtech Budik after the game. "They're always such a good team, but our coaches prepared us really well for this game, and we played with a lot of intensity."
