Following a comparative study of the 48 Quebec cities with a population of at least 25,000, the municipal council has decided to abolish pricing for the rental of CDs, DVDs and games at the Éva-Senécal Public Library, beginning April 3.
“We believe that the abolition of these fees will allow better access for families to enjoy the CD, DVD, and games collections held by the Sherbrooke library network,” says Paul Gingues, Chair of the municipal Culture Committee.
The collections of CDs, DVDs, and games are located at the Éva-Senécal public library at 50 Marquette St. All members of the three –library municipal network, which includes the Éva-Senécal Library and those in Saint-Élie and Rock Forest, can now borrow them free of charge.
Until now, the fees for these items have been $1 for games or music CDs, and $2 for DVDs for a period of one to three weeks. The Éva-Senécal Library alone hosts a collection of nearly 17,000 CDs, 18,000 DVDs, and just over 1,000 games. The decision was made in response to a request from a citizen at a council meeting last November.
