The CIUSSS de l’Estrie – CHUS announced earlier this week that the opening hours of the Windsor medical clinic will be extended onto the weekends sometime between now and the end of January. This announcement is the result of collaboration between the CIUSSS de l’Estrie – CHUS, the Town of Windsor and the elected officials of the Val-Saint-François MRC focused on ensuring the accessibility of health and social services offered to population in the territory.
The Windsor emergency department was converted into a walk-in clinic earlier this fall as one of several measures put in place to deal with worker shortages in the local healthcare network.
“The elected officials of Val-Saint-François, through their openness and collaboration, were very supportive and always looking for solutions. Nearly two months after its establishment, we see that the Windsor medical clinic meets the needs of the population: more than 90per cent of people who came to the Windsor emergency room had a health condition that represented a low priority. With more opening hours, the population of Windsor and Val-Saint-François will be well served with this change,” said Karine Duchaineau, deputy general manager of the General and specialized physical health program at the CIUSSS de l’Estrie – CHUS.
